State of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central & manufacturing 2022

Late 2020, I kicked off an activity that I completely underestimated. I underestimated the work that it created. And I underestimated the value and insight it would generate. This activity was the State of Business Central and Manufacturing Report 2020.

Now, 16 months later, I am repeating that effort and that work. I again do broad market research on Business Central and the manufacturing industry. And again, I will share all results and findings for free. Now it is on you to help, take less than 10 minutes of your time, and fill out my questionnaire.

Why again: State of Business Central and Manufacturing Report 2022

Cover Page -State of Business Central and Manufacturing Report - 2022Back last year, this report became the biggest market analysis on Business Central and manufacturing that was conducted ever. 318 respondents from 58 countries helped me analyze and provide meaningful market data. Ultimately, this enabled me to make decisions backed by date, not by gut feel. I have my fingers crossed that you could use that data in the same way.

"Fun fact": when I did the survey, the world was in the middle of strict COVID-19 lockdowns (and vaccines were rare). This tells us how fast things change. And this tells me how old my report and the gained market data are. Hence, it is time to do it again.

Although things are changing fast, I decided to keep the questionnaire almost the same. This will allow me to compare answers and to make conclusions (and new assumptions). Examples are:

  • Has the cloud adoption of Business Central increased in the past 18 months in the manufacturing industry?
  • Do manufacturers still tend to get a certain degree of customization for their ERP? Or has the increased AppSource offer made them stick closer to the standard?
  • Has the average size of a new Business Central manufacturing client changed in the past years?
  • Have the reasons for a manufacturer to go for Business Central changed (maybe impacted by the pandemic)?

So this time, the report isn't just a snapshot. It has the potential to also reveal development and trends. Maybe, it also allows making some pre-COVID / post-COVID comparisons and predictions.

How you can contribute

We will run the survey until mid of March. That way, I can share initial insights at Directions in North America in the first week of April.

Now it is up to you to take less than 10 minutes of your time and fill out the questionnaire that I prepared. Most of the questions are closed, with straightforward options.

If want to go the extra mile, please share this initiative.

Please share this blog post, and the questionnaire with your colleagues, your friends, your customers, and your peers.

The more people participate, the more meaningful the results. The more meaningful the results, the more valuable the "State of Business Central and Manufacturing - Report 2022" for you.

Who is this for?

The State of Business Central and Manufacturing Report is intended to be for both customers and partners.

It has questions that I ask you ... the customer. It has other questions that I ask you ... the partner.

That way, I intend to get a 360° picture of the state of Business Central and manufacturing in 2022.

I do not just want to focus on either the customer or the partner. It is about that specific market. And that specific market is equally shaped by customers and partners.

So please, take your time and help me with this market research. Independent if you are a partner or a customer: I promise that the report will contain information that is relevant to both of you.
